‘The Dinosaur Project’ – Does It Need To Go Back To The Drawing Board?

In terms of the found footage film genre, we’ve had everything from ghosts (THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY) to zombies (DIARY OF THE DEAD) to aliens (CLOVERFIELD). It may seem as if we’ve had every sensible base covered, but director Sid Bennett (behind TV series PREHISTORIC PARK) has taken it one step further…back in time, that is. Here we have the brand new poster and trailer for the upcoming release of Bennett’s THE DINOSAUR PROJECT, based around ‘found footage’ recovered from an island swarming with dinosaurs (JURASSIC PARK, anyone?).

If the premise hasn’t turned you away yet, well done! Here’s a little more information for you. Natasha Loring (BEAVER FALLS), Matt Kane (THE CUT), Richard Dillane (CASUALTY), Peter Brooke (SPOOKS) and Stephen Jennings (STARSHIP TROOPERS 3: MARAUDER) join together to investigate the Congo, which is supposedly the home to hundreds of dinosaurs. And you know what? They’re right. As the team try to escape the jungle without loosing any limbs, they find that maybe some things are better left undisturbed.

Personally, I don’t think anyone should touch the dino-genre since JURASSIC PARK was one of my favourite childhood films, but some things can’t be left sacred forever. The poster for the film is brilliant but the trailer? Not so much. Also, ironically enough, the release date is the same as my birthday – I’m already busy, so I won’t be going. But will you?

THE DINOSAUR PROJECT, directed by Sid Bennett, is due for a UK release from 10th August 2012.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
