The Wolverine Adds To Cast

THE WOLVERINE looks like it is finally under way with the casting of two new members. THE WOLVERINE is the next installment of the X-MEN franchise, but hopefully, like Logan himself, we will have absolutely no recollection of the events in X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE. One of the two possible end of credits scenes in that mess saw Wolverine drinking in Japan and that’s where we’ll find him this time, as the film will follow the comic run by Chris Claremont and Frank Miller.

The two men cast are Will Yun Lee and Brian Tee. Will Yun Lee will take on the role of Kenuichio Harada A.K.A. the Silver Samurai. Silver Samurai has the ability to charge objects and that includes his katana. This allows him to slice through anything, apart from…that’s right, adamantium, the metal that covers Wolverine’s claws and bones. Will Yun Lee has already appeared in the Marvel universe as Kirigi in ELEKTRA, but that didn’t stop Ryan Reynolds or Chris Evans. Brian Tee will play the role of Noboru Mori, a corrupt minister of justice about to marry into the Yakuza. Needless to say, Wolverine falls for his woman. He’s just asking for trouble isn’t he?

THE WOLVERINE is one of those films that I have mixed feelings about. After the double whammy of X-MEN: THE LAST STAND and X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, I had lost all faith. Luckily, X-MEN: FIRST CLASS raised the bar significantly. THE WOLVERINE could go either way, but with James Mangold directing and his poor effort that was NINJA ASSASSIN, I just hope they continue to take their time and focus on a brilliant script.

THE WOLVERINE is set for release 26th July 2013. It stars Hugh Jackman, Will Yun Lee, and Brian Tee.
