‘Game Of Thrones’: Who Will Sit On The Iron Throne At The End Of Season 8?

HBO/Sky Atlantic/ YouTube

The final season of Game Of Thrones is now playing and, if I’m being totally honest, I’m still a few episodes behind, desperately dodging spoilers as I navigate the web on a daily basis. We are exactly half way through the final season of this television masterpiece, and this weekend sees episode 4 air on HBO.

I’m going to shout SPOILERS AHEAD – so if you’re not up to date on proceedings in season 8 of Game Of Thrones, proceed with caution as some minor details on who hasn’t been offed in the final season may be revealed. You have been warned.

If you’re still here, great – I don’t think that this reveals a lot because, as I said, I’m not 100% up to date as yet, but what the next couple of paragraphs do reveal is who is left in the final season. As the final three episodes approach, bookies are slashing odds on who will sit on the throne at the end of the final episode which will air on 19th May. The final run features material not seen anywhere before, and we are well ahead of the stuff that happened in George R.R. Martin’s ‘A Song Of Ice and Fire’ series. Basically, anything can happen.

That final episode has a title TBA, so no details being spoiled for anyone there, but David Benioff and D. B. Weiss, the two geniuses who adapted the show for television have written and directed the very last episode in the record-breaking series.

So, that big question again – who will sit on the iron throne come the end of season eight episode 6? Well, the folks over at TopBet.eu have offered some odds for various characters, and the results are quite interesting.

Hot favourites to take the prestigious throne at the end of the season are none other than Jon Snow, played by Kit Harrington, and Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner), both of whom are being offered at 2/1 (+200). They are closely followed by Bran Stark (Isaac Hempstead Wright) at 3/1 (+300) and then Emilia Clark’s iconic Daenarys Targaryen at 4/1 (+400) at the moment. Rounding out the top five is Genrdy, who is currently being offered at 5/1 (+500). Maisie Williams’ Arya Stark is currently 7/1 (+700).

If you fancy an outside bet on who will take the position, Gwendoline Christie’s Brienne Of Tarth is currently 50/1 (+5000).

We’ve got three weeks to go until that final episode finally airs, and let’s face it, we’re all just speculating at the moment. With the final run of Game Of Thrones and the box-office behemoth that is Avengers: Endgame currently playing in cinemas, it’s one of the best times to be into your fantasy pop culture. Just as long as you can avoid those pesky spoilers.
