“Every time I step in front of a camera I feel young again. I really do. It keeps your mind active and it keeps you going.” – Ernest Borgnine
We’re hearing reports late on this Sunday evening that acting legend Ernest Borgnine has died. He was 95. It’s too early to add any more details surrounding his death, but according to The Associated Press, Borgnine died at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center this afternoon with his family by his side.
The actor has appeared on screen in such classics as FROM HERE TO ETERNITY, THE WILD BUNCH, ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK, MARTY (for which he won an Oscar in 1955), and the TV series Airwolf along with many more roles in a career that spanned over fifty years. He recently appeared at the Paramount Pictures 100 year anniversary photo call in LA back in January.
Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this difficult time.
Updated: It has been confirmed that Borgine died of renal failure in hospital in Los Angeles. The man lived quite a life, more of which you can read about over at The Washington Post.
