Peter Jackson has confirmed that the mammoth task that was shooting THE HOBBIT – AN UNEXPECTED JOURNEY and THE HOBBIT: THERE AND BACK AGAIN has finally come to an end in New Zealand. After commencing lensing on the two movies all of the way back in February 2011, the filmmaker finally yelled cut for the last time today bringing the 17-month marathon to a close. He updated us via his Facebook page.
We made it! Shoot day 266 and the end of principal photography on The Hobbit. Thanks to our fantastic cast and crew for getting us this far, and to all of you for your support! Next stop, the cutting room. Oh, and Comic Con!
Cheers, Peter J
So, with the first film’s release due this December (with the second hitting December 2013), Jackson and co. better get a wriggle on. PJ and the cast of the film are due to attend the San Diego Comic Con next week to drum up some, er, much needed publicity for the film.
