HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA has released a new batch of international character posters. HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA is the feature debut of animation superstar Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator of shows such as DEXTER’S LABORATORY and SAMURAI JACK. He’s enjoyed cult status for years, but now makes the leap with the help of an all star cast such as Adam Sandler as Dracula, Selena Gomez as his daughter, and Kevin James as Frankenstein. The plot has Dracula opening a hotel for all his monster buddies, so they can be safe, away from humans. All is thrown into chaos as a human backpacker voiced by Andy Samberg stumbles across their dwelling.
It’s hard to get excited for this film: Sandler and Samberg have already bombed this year with THAT’S MY BOY, and the inclusion of Kevin James and David Spade lets you know exactly what kind of ‘humour’ to expect. The trailer gave us lots of loud and obnoxious moments that we could all do without in our animated features. One of the writers, David I. Stern, is responsible for OPEN SEASON 2 and 3, while the screenplay writers Kevin and Dan Hageman, have only written episodes of a LEGO based ninja cartoon called NINJAGO: MASTERS OF SPINJITZU. This seems like a film that Tartakovsky is having to do so he can focus on his own original projects in the future. We also have spooky animated films covered this year with the much more enticing PARANORMAN and FRANKENWEENIE.
HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA is released 12th October 2012. It stars the vocal talents of Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Selena Gomez, Kevin James and David Spade.
