Luis Guzman has been cast in the upcoming AZTEC WARRIOR, an action-comedy inspired by the Mexican Luchador movies. The genre has traditionally featured popular Mexican wrestling superstars as heroic characters battling everyone from spies to vampires.
AZTEC WARRIOR is to be directed by Scott Sanders, the man responsible for the hugely enjoyable and funny BLACK DYNAMITE (2009). He’s already proved he can lampoon a cheaper form of cinema, while always giving it the respect it deserves, so this has me jumping for joy. Luis Guzman may not be an A-lister, but if you haven’t seen at least two of his films then I’ll buy a hat and eat it. It will be awesome to see him taking a bigger role, as The Warrior who must battle his nemesis El Diablo.
AZTEC WARRIOR begins filming in New Orleans next month. It stars Luis Guzman, Terry Crews, Eugenio Derbez, and Nadine Velazquez.

His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
