Edgar Wright Shoots ‘Ant-Man’ Test Footage!

Whilst the name Hank Pym may not jump off the page in the same way as Bruce Banner, Thor, Steve Rogers or Tony Stark, he was in fact one of the founding members of the Avengers. With plenty of egos to massage, perhaps it was no surprise that Marvel decided to push the focus on the more famous superheroes.

Pym’s ANT-MAN has been in development for quite some time now, with Edgar Wright having been attached from the early stages, with a script co-written by himself and Joe Cornish. It appears that Wright has been shooting test footage, to show Marvel how Pym’s shrinking powers will be realised on the big-screen. Not only that, but word is ANT-MAN is expected to feature in the regular post-credits sequence, in one of the their forthcoming projects. IRON MAN 3 is first out of the block, however with Pym yet to be cast, it may be a struggle to fit him into the currently shooting sequel. Although with Shane Black’s blockbuster scheduled for next summer, I’m sure they could squeeze a five-minute sequence into post-production. Maybe the more realistic option could see his introduction to the Marvel universe in forthcoming follow-ups THOR 2 or CAPTAIN AMERICA 2.

First up for Wright will be his conclusion to his Cornetto trilogy with THE WORLDS END, in which he’ll reunite Nick Frost and Simon Pegg. Shooting is expected to begin October/November.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
