David O. Russell’s latest film SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK has a brand new trailer. In his follow-up to THE FIGHTER (2010), O. Russell directs Bradley Cooper as a man released from a mental institution who tries to reconnect with his parents and past.
The main focus is Cooper’s brash and unrestrained comments, especially towards the equally emotionally damaged Jennifer Lawrence. These quips are funny in an embarrassing kind of way, but also leads to some great chemistry between the pair. Robert De Niro once again joins Cooper after last year’s LIMITLESS, this time playing his father. The biggest stand out for me was the arrival of Chris Tucker in his first non-RUSH HOUR role since MONEY TALKS (1997). The trailer, with its uplifting music and quirky humour, seems to be forcing its way into the off-beat inspirational indie sub-genre, but it made me laugh enough to give it a chance.
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK is released 23rd November 2012. It stars Bradley Cooper, Robert De Niro, Jennifer Lawrence, Julia Stiles and Chris Tucker.
