BEASTS OF THE SOUTHERN WILD was a massive success at both Sundance festivals and we’ve heard nothing but praise and it’s a trailer you have to watch and experience. The film follows six-year-old Hushpuppy (Quvenzhané Wallis in her debut role), who’s father (Dwight Henry) ailing health leads her to leave her community in search of her mother. There’s also a fantastical soul to this New Orleans-set film as environmental changes lead to prehistorical creatures called aurochs being released and, we believe, become part of exploration and journey she’s on.
It’s directed by Benh Zeitlin who has co-written with Lucy Alibar and here we have a couple of shots from production. We’re also very pleased to say that a UK release date has finally been confirmed as 19th October. Have a look, watch the trailer and embrace the feeling:
