James Bobin To Direct Agent Zigzag

James Bobin is one of the hottest comedy directors to have surfaced in the last few years. Not only is he one of the big players behind HBO’s FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, he also directed this year’s incredible THE MUPPETS. And whilst it’s almost certain that Bobin will join Kermit and Co for the inevitable sequel, he has also reportedly signed on for a different kind of movie altogether – an adaptation of the factual book ‘Agent Zigzag’.

The book, by Ben McIntyre, tells the story of Eddie Chapman, the wartime criminal and British double agent, and the film version is set to be produced by New Line and Playtone. Whilst it’s a change of direction for Bobin, it will be interesting to see what he does with Chapman’s remarkable story.

Kermit for the lead. You heard it here first.

Eddie Chapman was a charming criminal, a con man, and a philanderer. He was also one of the most remarkable double agents Britain has ever produced. Inside the traitor was a man of loyalty; inside the villain was a hero. The problem for Chapman, his spymasters, and his lovers was to know where one persona ended and the other began.

In 1941, after training as a German spy in occupied France, Chapman was parachuted into Britain with a revolver, a wireless, and a cyanide pill, with orders from the Abwehr to blow up an airplane factory. Instead, he contacted MI5, the British Secret Service. For the next four years, Chapman worked as a double agent, a lone British spy at the heart of the German Secret Service who at one time volunteered to assassinate Hitler for his countrymen. Crisscrossing Europe under different names, all the while weaving plans, spreading disinformation, and, miraculously, keeping his stories straight under intense interrogation, he even managed to gain some profit and seduce beautiful women along the way.

The Nazis feted Chapman as a hero and awarded him the Iron Cross. In Britain, he was pardoned for his crimes, becoming the only wartime agent to be thus rewarded. Both countries provided for the mother of his child and his mistress. Sixty years after the end of the war, and ten years after Chapman’s death, MI5 has now declassified all of Chapman’s files, releasing more than 1,800 pages of top secret material and allowing the full story of Agent Zigzag to be told for the first time.

Treatment For: “SLEEPIMG WITH THE CROSS”

The story is about the Grand Dragon of the KKK who would fall in love with a black woman. At a young age he was made to hate people of a different race. Ken now owns a major clothing factory in Mississippi. It happens to be one of the largest companies in this small southern town. In his factory were other Klansmen that he employed .They were basically everywhere under cover. There is also a law passed that every business had to employ a percentage of black minorities. So against the rules, they decide that they would beat the system by hiring only very light skin African Americans.

One day a dark skin beautiful black woman name Sharon, with long black hair, flawless dark brown skin walks into his office with a portfolio under her arm with a walk like silk flowing in the wind. She has the confident in herself that her looks along would land her this job, and not just her skills and degrees that she

    has.

Ken could do nothing but stare as she walked

    closer.

One of his partners and also best friend Tim

noticed how he looked at her.

Ken spoke in a low voice, saying that he was going

to hire that Nigger. He we go against his friends

and the members of the Klansmen opinion about hiring

    this black woman.

Once she began working in his factory, he

began having an affair with her and they fell in

    love with each other.

Ken was married and the fact that his wife is

an alcoholic made it easier to fall in love with the

beautiful, spunky, black woman seeking her

affection. The rumors of his affair with a black

    woman would get out.

Now his life is threatened and his love for

this black woman is tested and his love for her was

much stronger than there attempt to take his life.

This story has cross burnings and other acts

    of hatred.

The Grand dragon teenage son would be one that

rebel against the acts of the Klan. He being a teen

and getting ready to go off to college refuses to

join what he viewed as ignorant behavior. So

he was shunned, but he had his girlfriend by his

side. The last attempt on Ken life left everyone

thinking he was dead. He goes into hiding not

telling Sharon anything for now. He had a informant

that gave him news about the woman he loves and is

    now having his child.

This love story goes on and has a lot of what

you may view as drama. There is an attempt to kill

ken and the Klan thinks they have. The papers are

rolling hot off the press. A kid stands on the

corner of kens factory wears hooded shirt,

shouting , ”Get your paper here the Grand Dragon is

    dead…”

Titles and articles read, “Sleeping with the

cross” It’s the worst sin he could commit. The love

affair with a Nigger causes him his death.”

”Grand Dragon killed for crossing the Klan for a Nigger.”

The Articles go on and on with article concerning

    the kens death.

His wife did not handle the news of the affair

very well kills herself in a car accident while very

    intoxicated.

The book and screenplay is known to hold your attention from beginning to end. There is so much

more to the story, ”Sleeping with the cross.”

    Thank You,

    Bobbie
