Way back in March we gave you a look at the teaser trailer for Andrew Niccol’s (IN TIME) film adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s novel THE HOST. The teaser didn’t give much away and it looks as if Open Road Films is holding its cards close to its chest as today’s brand new images don’t either.
Saoirse Ronan stars as Melanie Stryder, one of the few remaining humans trying to fight the internal battle against an alien being attempting to take over her body. As the being (named Wanderer) takes over her host, Melanie becomes trapped inside Wanderer’s mind – two souls sharing one body. As Melanie starts ‘talking’ to Wanderer, the two decide to start looking for their loved ones, to see whether they have survived. Max Irons, Diane Kruger, Jake Abel, Chandler Canterbury, Boyd Holbrook, William Hurt, Frances Fisher and Scott Lawrence all star alongside Ronan – some names you may know, others you may not. Either way the cast list is pretty solid and will give the film some credibility.
As I’ve said, these two new images don’t give anything away, except that some of the scenes have some spectacular landscapes. However, they do give us a better look at Ronan as Melanie and Abel as Ian. We’ll have to wait for the full-length trailer to get a proper feel of what we’re being shown (and to clear up who is who!)
THE HOST, directed by Andrew Niccol, is due for release from 29th March 2013.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
