George Miller’s original MAD MAX trilogy is still fondly remembered and considered an 80s action-packed classic. MAD MAX 2: THE ROAD WARRIOR in particular has some of the most frenetic and jaw-dropping sequences in cinema history. So this writer is eager to see what’s in store for our post-apocalyptic hero in the forthcoming reboot MAD MAX: FURY ROAD. With original director Miller back, and Tom Hardy taking over Mel Gibson’s iconic title role, THN can’t wait to see the character return in what’s been a long-gestating project.
Already confirmed to join Hardy in the first of what’s expected to be a duo of adventures shot back-to-back (the other entitled MAD MAX: FURIOSA), are Charlize Theron (sporting a new look which we recently reported here), Nicholas Hoult, Riley Keough, Zoe Kravitz and Adelaide Clemens. Just as that cast was starting to look impressive, the name Rosie Huntington-Whitely has dampened expectations – the TRANSFORMERS 3 actress and model will also appear. Perfectly fine to look at – stunningly beautiful in fact – but her work on Michael Bay’s blockbuster sequel was widely criticised for being more than a little wooden.
MAD MAX: FURY ROAD will begin shooting in South Africa next month, for those yet to see the great-looking vehicles we reported would be involved a few months ago, you can check them out here.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
