Tom Cruise seems to be everywhere at the moment – he starred in 2011’s MISSION IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL, he’s currently promoting stage-to-screen adaptation ROCK OF AGES, he features as the title character in December’s JACK REACHER…and now we have brand new images of him on the set of 2013’s OBLIVION.
OBLIVION, directed by Joseph Kosinski (TRON: LEGACY), focuses on a space-war between Earth and a distant planet in the solar system. Cruise features as Captain Jack Harper who repairs damaged space craft that land on Earth’s torched surface. While fixing a machine, he stumbles upon a woman who has landed in one of the crafts. Harper’s actions consequently send the planet into turmoil, causing even more trouble than it’s already in. Cruise co-stars with Morgan Freeman (MILLION DOLLAR BABY), Olga Kurylenko (QUANTUM OF SOLACE), Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (GAME OF THRONES), Andrea Riseborough (W.E), Melissa Leo (THE FIGHTER), Zoe Bell (WHIP IT), Dane Cook (DAN IN REAL LIFE) and Will Forte (30 ROCK).
The stills don’t really give us anything to go by, but if there’s one thing Tom’s good at, it’s science-fiction films (MINORITY REPORT? WAR OF THE WORLDS? Anybody?) Considering this cast list features Mr Morgan Freeman and a former Bond girl, OBLIVION could really pull audience members in.
OBLIVION, directed by Joseph Kosinski, is currently filming. It’s due for release from 26th April 2013.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
