From ‘Prometheus’ To ‘Paradise’: Ridley Talks Sequel!

We’ve already had one significant PROMETHEUS story today, and with the film already on release and dividing opinion, Ridley Scott is already talking ‘sequel’. If like myself, you loved Scott’s ALIEN prequel (flaws ‘n’ all) you’ll be eager to see what further horrors await the human race. PROMETHEUS, in all honesty, needs a sequel in order to explain the number of new questions posed. Hopefully we’ll get one soon, however Scott and writer Damon Lindelof have given a few hints (as well as an expected title – PARADISE) about just what fans can expect.

Here’s what Scott says of the possible follow-up, but for those yet to see the film, be warned they are spoilers ahead:

‘From the very beginning, I was working from a premise that lent itself to a sequel, I really don’t want to meet God in the first one. I want to leave it open to Dr. Elizabeth Shaw saying, ‘I don’t want to go back to where I came from. I want to go where they came from.

Because the Engineers are such aggressive fuckers, I always had it in there that the God-like creature that you will see actually is not so nice, and is certainly not God. I’d love to explore where Shaw goes next and what does she does when she gets there, because if it is paradise, paradise can not be what you think it is. Paradise has a connotation of being extremely sinister and ominous.

Lindelof added:-

‘Prometheus’ has two children: One of these children grows up to be ‘Alien,’ but the other child is going to grow up, and God knows what happens to them. And that’s what the sequel to ‘Prometheus’ would be. I feel like some storyline has already been constructed based on conversations that Ridley and I had about it.’

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

There are so many unanswered questions that rose from almost every scene. I love that the film gave birth to 2 different film, which are the obvious ones. But about what Vickers? Did she really stupidly run straight and die, she’s too smart for that as she knew her father was aboard all along with an agenda. None the less…Im guessing the sequel will tell us where david and Elizabeth go and how and did she really glue david’s head back (pun intended). I’m superbly excited and hope that the sequel raises more questions than answers!!

I really have so many questions about the film….phew!!!

the movie in itself raises a lot of questions. Now i think the sequel i.e. Ridley Scot’s next flick Paradise will answer those questions. Otherwise i found Prometheus if not all a bit disappointing. Foe e.g. if the Engineers (Black eyed white skinned Humanoid Aliens) created us ‘THE HUMAN RACE’ then why are they going to exterminate us like cockroaches? my guess the sequel movie will answer that…..
