After the brilliant, record-breaking superhero flick AVENGERS ASSEMBLE, the Marvel universe is looking bigger than ever. Over the next few years, we’re expecting another CAPTAIN AMERICA and THOR, as well as the rumoured ANT-MAN and new HULK projects. However, first up and currently shooting is Shane Black’s IRON MAN 3 (well, that’s if you don’t include the Sony Pictures owned THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN, coming next month).
Regular cast members Robert Downey Jr, Gwenyth Paltrow, Don Cheadle and previous director/actor Jon Favreau, are all back. They’ll be appearing alongside villains Ben Kingsley (rumoured to be playing the iconic Mandarin) and Guy Pearce (as Dr. Aldrich Killian), with a plot that sees the metallic billionaire playboy attempt to save the world from the lethal Extremis nano virus.
Here we have a bunch of images all coming from various sources, including some of the actors themselves. There is also the first a teaser banner showing Tony Stark-in-suit alongside the now famous font artwork. Some may be disappointed as the involvement of Iron Patriot has now been confirmed as a non-starter. The shot seen last week, was that of a new design for Cheadle’s War Machine.
IRON MAN 3 is unleashed May 2013 and will co-star Rebecca Hall, James Badge Dale, Ashley Hamilton and not forgetting Paul Bettany as the returning voice of Jarvis.
Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
