Pete Travis’ upcoming Judge DREDD reboot is perhaps still looked upon as mysterious, even to those familiar with the 2000A.D. comic-book. Other than a bunch of impressive stills, very little is known about the project. Lionsgate have kept down costs by acquiring reliable actors like Karl Urban, Lena Headey and Olivia Thirlby, as opposed to the superstars that bogged Danny Cannon’s previous 1997 effort. One that outraged fans by turning their vicious anti-hero and unforgiving law-enforcer, into a camp, comedy creation that removed his helmet (oo-er)!
This brilliantly clever poster design is certainly keeping in tone with what we know about the latest film – very little. And it’s hopefully going to be a dark horse in the closing summer blockbuster calender. Let’s also hope the rumoured production troubles have not made DREDD, just that.
DREDD opens on September 7th, 2012.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
