Tonight THN has the trailer for SHADOW DANCER, an upcoming UK thriller directed by James Marsh, the man responsible for the outstanding MAN ON WIRE and also gritty Channel 4 series RED RIDING. Originally a novel by Tom Bradby, the author has adapted it for his first big screen outing and, from this first look, we’re in for something tense and genuine.

SHADOW DANCER is set in the 1990s and focuses on Collette McVeigh (Andrea Riseborough -MADE IN DAGENHAM), a Republican living in Belfast with her mother and IRA brothers. When she’s arrested for her part in an IRA bomb plot in London, MI5 officer ‘Mac’ (Clive Owen) offers her a choice: lose everything and go to prison for 25 years or return to Belfast to spy on her own family…

It has already stirred a lot of interest after Sundance and we’re sure this isn’t the last we’ve heard of it, check out the trailer and let us know what you think:

SHADOW DANCER also stars Gillian Anderson, Aidan Gillen, Brid Brennan, David Wilmot, Domhanll Gleeson, Martin McCann and Stuart Graham. It’s set to open on August 25th.
