The boy who portrayed Harry Potter’s pal, Ron Weasley, is now a man, and he is due to appear in the upcoming films, THE NECESSARY DEATH OF CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN and CBGB, in what will be his first major roles as an adult. The 23 year-old actor, who is undoubtedly eager to to lose the label ‘that ginger one what was in HARRY POTTER’, will star opposite some heavy hitters, who will test his acting prowess in new and unfamiliar surroundings.
CHARLIE COUNTRYMAN focuses on Shia LaBeouf’s titular everyman character, who falls for Gabi Banyai; a woman who is, unfortunately, already involved with a mob boss. The film is penned by Matt Drake (PROJECT X), will be directed by debutant, Fredrik Bond, and boasts an impressive supporting cast, including Mads Mikkelsen (COCO CHANEL AND IGOR STRAVINSKY), and the brilliant Melissa Leo (TREME).
CBGB (a working title) is the story of the rise of rock ‘n’ roll and punk music spear-headed by the eponymous New York nightclub. It will reunite Grint with his HARRY POTTER co-star, Alan Rickman (DOGMA), who portrays Hilly Kristal; the nightclub’s proprietor. Randall Miller (BOTTLE SHOCK) co-wrote the script with Jody Savin (NOBEL SON), but he would be forgiven for calling it his baby, as he is also due to helm the production, and is rumoured to be stepping into the role of the young Hilly Kristal.
Both projects are in the pre-production stage at the moment, but as soon as we receive more information regarding release dates, we will inform you posthaste.

Martin has been a film buff (or geek, if you prefer) for as long as he can remember. However, he lives and longs for storytelling of all kinds, and writes across numerous mediums to feed his insatiable appetite. He lives in north-west London, and his favourite films are, possibly: PAN'S LABYRINTH, THEY LIVE, PSYCHO, HIGH FIDELITY, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, STAND BY ME, SIDEWAYS and OFFICE SPACE.

No offence but have you actually seen the Harry Potter series? Because Rupert Grint was actually the main star of the series ALONG with Radcliffe and Watson. He’s a HUGELY famous and popular star, pretty much everyone knows his name, so no; he’s actually not known as the “ginger” one. The character of Ron Weasley is the main character with the other two. That’s why they are always referred to as the “main trio” or the “golden trio” of the franchise. And by the way, these are actually not his first starring roles since HP. Rupert Grint already had a starring role, in 2012, called “Into The White”. An anti-war film. Pretty good film too.
