James McAvoy Joins The Disappearance of Eleanor Rigby

James McAvoy is set to join Jessica Chastain in THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY, as one side of a love story told from two perspectives.

The film follows the story of a married New York City couple dealing with an emotional and life-altering experience. The twist is that it is told from two perspectives, therefore in two separate movies. One side is that of the husband, a restaurant owner, played by McAvoy and the other of the wife who goes back to college, played by Chastain.

This rare double feature project from Myriad Pictures will be entitled THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY: HIS and THE DISAPPEARANCE OF ELEANOR RIGBY: HERS. Both scripts were written by Ned Benson (IN DEFIANCE OF GRAVITY) and will be produced by Cassandra Kulukundis (THERE WILL BE BLOOD, SHATTERED GLASS).

Myriad CEO Kirk D’Amico said both films will be made to stand alone, but having both will make for a fuller look at the couple. Adding to this, he said that the possibility to now make a double feature was because of the changing ways that audiences consume movies. The script was presented to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin earlier this year and is now being pre-sold at Cannes.

This will surely be a unique and in-depth look into the life of a married New York couple and with talents such as James McAvoy and Jessica Chastain, who most recently received an Oscar nomination for her performance in THE HELP, the film is already setting out to be a success.
