Highlander Remake: There Can Be Only One…Ryan Reynolds!

Juan Carlos Fresnidillo’s anticipated remake of HIGHLANDER may finally have a lead actor attached for an updated version of Russell Mulcahy’s 1986 classic. Emerging as the favourite for the role of Connor Macleod in Liongate/Summit’s joint production is, none other than, Ryan Reynolds. Although talks have yet to take place, Reynolds is wanted by the studios for the ‘immortal’ character, previously played by Christopher Lambert in Mulcahy’s original (and a further three films).

Reynolds’ sword-swinging skills – seen in BLADE: TRINITY and X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE – will no doubt come in handy if he commits to the project (the fact that both those film were absolute rubbish is not really Reynolds’ fault). So what would fans of the franchise make of the GREEN LANTERN star, as their new hero? As always, we’d love to know! And yes we know GREEN LANTERN was rubbish also.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
