The recent trailer for John Hillcoat’s LAWLESS was pretty damn spectacular, with the all-star cast looking suitably superb. The film is adapted from the factually-based novel The Wettest County In The World by Matt Bondurant, the grandkid of one of characters. Set in prohibition-era Virginia, the film will depict the criminal nature of a family of bootleggers and their ‘business’ dealings with major underworld figures that ultimately turn fatal.
THN has the first collection of character posters, each giving us more than a hint of their individual personalities and motivations. Hillcoat previously gave us the brilliant, brutal Aussie western THE PROPOSITION, as well as punishing post-apocalyptic thriller THE ROAD. Singer and screenwriter Nick Cave, has adapted Bondurant’s best-seller. LAWLESS hits cinemas later this year
LAWLESS will premiere at Somerset House at their Film4 Summer Screen Festival, more details click here!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
