Dario Argento’s 1977 giallo horror classic SUSPIRIA is still considered one of the genre’s most defining films. It was also recently confirmed UNDERTOW and PINEAPPLE EXPRESS director David Gordon Green, will helm a remake of the supernatural-thriller. Today, we have cast news that will tell the story of American ballet student Suzy Bannion and the horrific events she, and others, encounter at the hands of the famous European dance school’s secret coven of witches!
Isabelle Fuhrman, who starred in THE HUNGER GAMES as the ruthless Clove, will take the lead role of Suzy (previously played by Jessica Harper). The rest of the main cast include Isabelle Hubbert, Janet McTeer, Antje Traue and original THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO actor Michael Nyqvist.
Filming is set to begin in September for a release later next year. What are your thoughts on the announcement, and are you happy with the talent involved in remaking a genuine classic?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
