Lance Henriksen Wants Cult Series ‘Millennium’ On The Big Screen

MILLENNIUM was X-FILES creator Chris Carter’s late 90s cult hit, although it’s probably not as well known now so let’s give you a little description. It starred Lance Henriksen as a criminal profiler who had the supernatural ability to psychologically get inside the mindset of the killers he was hunting down. Henriksen recently spoke to ComingSoon about he hopes that Frank Black will return and onto cinema screens.

MILLENNIUM was a dark and twisted offshoot from the world of X-FILES, delving into homicide and psychopaths in a way never before seen on the small screen. It ran for 3 seasons and Henriksen feels that Frank Black still has a story to tell. We think that although it’s a been a long time, the character was pretty unique. However, television has developed immensely in the past 10 years and would such a character still pull the same kind of audiences? We’re unsure but would love to see what those original creators could come up with. In the meantime, here’s what Henriksen had to say and scroll down for an original teaser trailer from the cult series.

“I think it’s going to happen, I really do…there’s a big push on right now and there’s a lot of crazy people involved in it. It doesn’t have to be a $30 million movie either. There’s a lot of fans out there in 65 countries.”

Henriksen continued: “Ever since 9/11, the world has changed so radically. If ‘Millennium’ was made today with those characters, it would be a far more interesting show than the limited palette they had with serial killers. I love the idea of a non-judgmental character like Frank Black was… He wanted to know why and how all these things happened, but he knew that judging someone for what they’ve done would just get in the way of finding out things. Imagine that kind of morality and focus, like a master chess player. There are beads on a string and suddenly you’ve got a necklace. He knew how to do it. It would be much more interesting now than it was then.”

He was also eager for his character to test his own psychological well being:

“When you trap a guy like Frank Black, who has that kind of imagination and you put him in a world like [for example] Bulgaria where everything is in Cyrillicand he can’t communicate actively with a lot of people, he has to do it in another way. I’ve thought of how it could be done. You just keep moving the pressure in on him about this kind of terrorist stuff. A terrorist plot. The pressure keeps building and building and building until you realize that that pressure gave him all the answers he needed. You would be gasping for air to wonder what is going to happen to this guy.”

Obviously, there’s a lot of hope and rumour mixing in here but he does bring something special and onto the big screen? I guess we’ll have to wait and see. In the meantime, check out this old teaser trailer for a glimpse into the mind of Frank Black:
