Anyone old enough to remember or has seen Willam Lustig’s ace-but-infamous 1980 exploitation horror MANIAC, will be interested to see just how a new remake lives up to the original. Elijah Wood takes over the role of Frank, originally played by the late, great Joe Spinell, in which we followed a rather troubled psychotic man on an orgy of gruesome violence – and an obsession will a stunning female photographer. The film featured gag-inducing gore effects from make-up master Tom Savini.
Here we have the first images from the film that has P2 director Franck Khalfoun at the helm. MANIAC will also feature America Olivo, Nora Arnezeder, Sal Landi and Megan Duffy. The film is written and produced by PIRANHA 3D and THE HILLS OF EYES’ Alexandra Aja and Gregory Lavasseur.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
