Spectacular First Trailer For Gangster Squad

Here is the first trailer for GANGSTER SQUAD starring Josh Brolin, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Sean Penn.

Bloody Hell, this looks like fun. Last September, we posted on-set pics of Gosling and Stone looking really, really, ridiculously good looking in vintage clothes, now we get to see them in action. GANGSTER SQUAD is set in L.A. 1949 and tells the story of Sgt. John O’Mara (Brolin), who recruits a team of badass cops, including the beautiful and deadly Jerry Wooters (Gosling), to kill the Heck out of local mobsters headed by Mickey Cohen (Penn). There is plenty of Kiss Kiss Bang Bang in there, with a top notch cast to bring the credibility.

Here’re a few things to look out for. Sean Penn looking nothing like himself due to makeup, Nick Nolte looking nothing like himself due to life, Robert Patrick’s exquisite moustache, Josh Brolin channelling a young Tommy Lee Jones once again to fulfil his kick-assery and indeed Gosling and Stone causing women to ovulate the world over.

Here’s the official synopsis:

Los Angeles, 1949. Ruthless, Brooklyn-born mob king Mickey Cohen (Sean Penn) runs the show in this town, reaping the ill-gotten gains from the drugs, the guns, the prostitutes and–if he has his way–every wire bet placed west of Chicago. And he does it all with the protection of not only his own paid goons, but also the police and the politicians who are under his control. It’s enough to intimidate even the bravest, street-hardened cop…except, perhaps, for the small, secret crew of LAPD outsiders led by Sgt. John O’Mara (Josh Brolin) and Jerry Wooters (Ryan Gosling), who come together to try to tear Cohen’s world apart. “The Gangster Squad” is a colorful retelling of events surrounding the LAPD’s efforts to take back their nascent city from one of the most dangerous mafia bosses of all time.

GANGSTER SQUAD is directed by Ruben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND, 30 MINUTES OR LESS). This will be his first feature without Jesse Eisenberg and his second outing with Stone. It is scheduled for release later this year.

(Just look at that Gosling. Boom! Pregnant!)

John is a gentleman, a scholar, he’s an acrobat. He is one half of the comedy duo Good Ol’ JR, and considers himself a comedy writer/performer. This view has been questioned by others. He graduated with First Class Honours in Media Arts/Film & TV, a fact he will remain smug about long after everyone has stopped caring. He enjoys movies, theatre, live comedy and writing with the JR member and hetero life partner Ryan. Some of their sketches can be seen on YouTube and YOU can take their total hits to way over 17!

DAMN!!!!!!! Looks MINDBLOWING!!!!!! Live action version of “LA Noire”??? 😉 But, serioudly, that game was amazing, so I’n game for this. It’s been quite awhile since we hada GOOD shoot-em-up noir… with this and John Hilcoat’s “Lawless”, we may be on the track to a sort of revival. And I couldn’t be happier!
