Now moving onto its fifth instalment, the RESIDENT EVIL franchise is still going strong – certainly in the eyes of the fans, who continue to shell out on the video game-to-movie blockbusters. For this THN writer, who hasn’t picked up a joystick (if that what they’re still using these days) since the days of Commodore 64, I found the first film enjoyable enough, but every sequel since – absolutely dire!
Having the lovely Milla Jovovich – running around in a rather sexy red dress – helped open the franchise and now writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson (fellow Geordie like myself) has made his third film in the series with upcoming RESIDENT EVIL: RETRIBUTION. He also produced and wrote RESIDENT EVIL: APOCALYPSE and EXTINCTION, the only two features he didn’t direct.
THN brings you the new quad poster for the action-packed horror sequel which explodes onto our cinema screens 28th September. The film was shot, like the previous RESIDENT EVIL: AFTERLIFE, using the same 3D technology that AVATAR impressed us with.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
