Robert Pattinson Goes In Search Of Saddam For ‘Mission: Blacklist’!

He’s the heart-throb star of one of the most bland but, ultimately, blockbusting franchises in film history, the TWILIGHT SAGA. However, we’re about to see Robert Pattinson emerge as more than the pasty-faced vampire pin-up on a teenage girl’s bedroom wall, with roles in David Cronenberg’s COSMOPOLIS and now MISSION: BLACKLIST.

Pattinson will play military interrogator Eric Maddox, the man who led the hunt and capture of Saddam Hussein as chronicled in book ‘Mission: Black List #1: The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein — As Told by the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture‘. The novel was written by Maddox and Davin Seay. The film will be the Hollywood debut of French film-maker Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire and has a script by BAND OF BROTHERS’ Eric Jendresen.

This year Pattinson will break loose from the shackles of Edward Cullen when the fifth and final TWILIGHT film is released 16th November. Roles in REMEMBER ME, WATER FOR ELEPHANTS and BEL AMI have certainly not set the world alight but working with an icon as Cronenberg and now a biopic of an American hero, this could cement his profile an actor to watch out for, as opposed to the crowd-pleasing ‘pretty boy’ we currently know.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
