You wait 75 years for a new Snow White film and two come along at once. Typical. But this latest effort, SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMEN, looks an altogether different affair to its counterpart, MIRROR MIRROR, released only last month.
Starring the queen of angst, Kristen Stewart, the new version is undoubtedly darker, grittier, and in true TWILIGHT tradition, grumpier. In this retelling, the huntsman charged with dispatching the teenage beauty ends up becoming her protector – which is far more effective than a couple of dwarves stood on each others’ shoulders in a big coat.
Whilst Stewart looks less of an obvious choice to play Snow White than Lily Collins, the presence of Chris Hemsworth as the huntsman and Charlize Theron as the evil queen bodes well. The ‘From the producer of ALICE IN WONDERLAND’ tagline does not.

SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMEN is directed by Rupert Sanders and arrives in UK cinemas 1st June.
