Barnabas Collins, the vampire played by Johnny Depp in DARK SHADOWS, has been buried in the ground for 200 years, which is almost the same amount of time since Tim Burton made a decent movie. However, from the trailer the film does looks relatively amusing (though it could just be clever editing), and despite burned fingers, let’s give hairy weirdo Burton the benefit of the doubt (again).
The film will follow Barnabas’ resurrection and efforts to assimilate back into 1970s society, a stark contrast to the world he once knew. Not only that, he must contend with his descendents and try to resist the advances of Angelique Boucard (Eva Green), the witch who placed the vampire curse upon him to begin with…
Check out this new DARK SHADOWS featurette, which looks at ‘reluctant vampire’ Barnabas – part Bela Lugosi, part Max Shreck, all Depp. Also look out for some footage of the original 1960s DARK SHADOWS TV show.
DARK SHADOWS co-stars Michelle Pfeiffer, Helena Bonham-Carter, Johnny Lee Miller, Chloe Grace Moretz, and Jackie Earl Haley. It arrives in UK cinemas 11th May 2012.
