Director John Hillcoat’s LAWLESS is an all-star project and highly anticipated. Previously entitled THE WETTEST COUNTY IN THE WORLD, the film is adapted from the fact-based novel on the Bondurant brothers, a gang of Virginia bootleggers during the great Depression.
Today THN bring you the action-packed and grimy first trailer and poster plus man-of-the-moment Tom Hardy getting ready for a shoot out. LAWLESS is set for an August 31st release in the USA and so we’re hoping it’ll be out here soon as well.
Check out the trailer and visit their official Facebook page:
LAWLESS has an ace cast, that includes Shia LaBeouf, Tom Hardy, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce, Jessica Chastain, Mia Wasikowska, Jason Clarke and Noah Taylor. The best-selling novel was written by Matt Bondurant, the Grandson of one the infamous siblings and adapted for the screen by singer Nick Cave. Cave previously wrote Hillcoat’s brilliant Aussie western THE PROPOSITION that starred Guy Pearce, Danny Huston and Ray Winstone.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
