We recently bought you the disappointing news that Gary Ross would not return to direct the second instalment of Suzanne Collins’ THE HUNGER GAMES trilogy; but where one door closes another opens, only this one we may have preferred to stay shut as rumours abound are attaching Francis Lawrence to direct the sequel. Lawrence’s credits aren’t the best, indeed his track record of book-to-film adaptation is pretty poor including I AM LEGEND, CONSTANTINE and WATER FOR ELEPHANTS , but never one to judge a book by its (film adaptation) or cover we’ll still be queuing at the cinema to see the continuation of Katniss’ story.
What do you make of this news? Has it put you off returning to District 12 or made you want to don a fiery dress in anticipation? Let us know by commenting below.
With a release date currently scheduled for November 2013, CATCHING FIRE will star Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth.

Sam is a bloody lovely lad born and raised in Bristol (he’s still there and can’t escape). Favourite films include THE LOST BOYS, DRIVE, FIGHT CLUB and COMMANDO, well pretty much any 1980s Arnie film you can throw his way…even RED SONJA. Sam once cancelled a Total Film subscription after they slagged off Teen Wolf. He resubscribed 2 days later.
