Theron & Wyatt Eyeing ‘Agent 13’

Charlize Theron plays a major role in Ridley Scott’s upcoming PROMETHEUS, but the Oscar-winning MONSTER actress is already looking at a return to the sci-fi genre with AGENT 13. RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES’ Rupert Wyatt is expected helm the futuristic-actioner, with Theron as the lead, before he begins work on a sequel to last summers surprise hit. AGENT 13’s mysterious script, from T.S. Nolan, is said to be under lock and key.

Theron had stayed clear of science-fiction, after starring in Karyn Kusama’s dire big-budget flop AEON FLUX. PROMETHEUS on the other hand, was a chance to work with a legendary visionary director in Scott; as well as an ace cast in a prequel to one of the genre’s benchmark franchises. Brit director Wyatt, is also looking like a director who will go far in Tinseltown, his brilliant head-twisting prison-thriller THE ESCAPIST, led to his appointment on kick-starting THE PLANET OF THE APES franchise, after Tim Burton’s 2001 disastrous effort.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
