Bale & Cooper To Re-team With Russell For ‘American Bullshit’

Christian Bale is set to headline political thriller AMERICAN BULLSHIT (a title that is expected to change). He will re-unite with the infamous director David O Russell, the film-maker who guided him to Oscar glory with boxing-biopic THE FIGHTER. The plot will chronicle the FBI sting during the 1970s, that saw a selection on US congressmen jailed for their part in the scandal entitled ‘Abscam’. It is also expected that LIMITLESS and THE HANGOVER star Bradley Cooper, will join them, after working with Russell on the upcoming THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK.

Bale will be making his last performance as Bruce Wayne in Christopher Nolan’s THE DARK KNIGHT RISES this summer, but has also upcoming roles in Terrence Malick’s double LAWLESS and KNIGHT OF CUPS, as well as Scott Cooper’s thriller OUT OF THE FURNACE. Bradley Cooper meanwhile, still appears busy even after Alex Proyas’ warring-angel epic PARADISE LOST collapsed. He currently has THE WORDS, HIT & RUN, THE PLACE BEYOND THE PINES, and of course THE SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK, all due this year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
