DEAD SNOW director Tommy Wirkola’s Hollywood debut HANSEL AND GRETEL: WITCH HUNTERS, is still to be released, yet he is already looking to his next project. Wirkola has been tapped to direct a big-screen effort of Red 5’s mini-comic book series AFTERBURN. The series, written by Scott Chitwood and Paul Ens, will star Gerard Butler as a treasure hunter in a post-apocalyptic wasteland, on the hunt for valuable artefacts, whilst battling bloodthirsty mutants, lawless gangs and bounty hunters.
HANSEL AND GRETAL: WITCH HUNTERS, starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, was expected this summer; until a decision was made to move it to January 2013. Wirkola replaces TRAINING DAY’s Antoine Fuqua on AFTERBURN, who appears to have huge number on projects on his slate.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
