Adam Sandler and Taylor Lautner Set For…Worst Comedy Of All-Time?

Twilight star and teenage heartthrob Taylor Lautner is in talks to join the cast of GROWN UPS 2, a sequel to the comedy hit released in 2010.

Lautner is said to be joining the returning cast of the Columbia Pictures film, including Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Salma Hayek, with a new addition from PROJECT X star Oliver Cooper. According to sources, Lautner will appear in a “fun” role, in which he goes toe-to-toe with Sandler.

GROWN UPS was a box-office success, grossing $271 million worldwide, but the question is if a sequel to a story of an adult group of childhood friends who reunite after their high school basketball coach dies, would fare as well with the audiences.

Taylor’s recent film choices have been a mixture of the successful and well, not so successful. His recent action movie ABDUCTION was a disappointment in the US grossing $82 million worldwide, however the actor is currently also attached to an independent film set to be directed by Gus Van Sant (GOOD WILL HUNTING, MILK). With the release of TWILIGHT: BREAKING DAWN PART 2 in November, an appearance in a comedy blockbuster might be a nice alternative for the young actor.

Dennis Dugan is returning as director to the set of GROWN UPS 2, with Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo in the producers’ seats.
