Variety has reported that Zooey Deschanel is in talks to star in Richard Curtis’ (LOVE ACTUALLY, FOUR WEDDINGS AND A FUNERAL) new science fiction ‘dramedy’ (drama-comedy) ABOUT TIME.
Along with this rumour comes the addition (apparently) of Domhnall Gleeson (who played Bill Weasley in the HARRY POTTER franchise) to the cast. If Gleeson accepts his part, he will play the son of two time travellers. When he discovers that he also has the gift, he decides to use it to change situations for the better – for himself. If Deschanel accepts her part, she will play Gleeson’s love interest – but that’s all we know so far.
Deschanel is also currently in talks to star in HE’S F*CKIN’ PERFECT, the Lauryn Kahn-written comedy. However, reports are saying she’s leaning towards starring in ABOUT TIME. This would be her first film role since she started shooting her TV comedy NEW GIRL, while Gleeson is currently filming DREDD and ANNA KARENINA.
Science fiction is a step away from Curtis’ niche of romantic comedies, but he has dabbled in films that were a little less romantic like THE BOAT THAT ROCKED (2009) and MR BEAN’S HOLIDAY (2007). If he manages to secure both Gleeson and Deschanel I can see this being very successful.

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
