He is not very popular with fans of the 80s comic-book and cartoon hit show right now, but Michael Bay has been trying to keep a lid on the controversy of his TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES project. First he announced their origin would be ‘alien’, changing the original ‘mutant’ aspect, so prominent in the title. Then rumours were circulating that the four ‘heroes in a half shell’ may no longer be ‘teenage’. Even the projects director, Jonathan Liebesman got in on the act, to try and put and end to the discontent amongst the fanbase.
Now we have confirmation from producer Bay, that the title has well and truly dropped the ‘TEENAGE MUTANT’, and will now be known as just NINJA TURTLES. The statement from Bay, goes as follows:-
Paramount marketing changed the name. They made the title simple. The characters you all remember are exactly the same, and yes they still act like teenagers. Everything you remember, why you liked the characters, is in the movie. This script is being developed by two very smart writers, with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles. They care VERY MUCH about making this film for the fans. Everyone on this team cares about the fans. Just give them a chance. Jonathan the director, is a major fan of the whole franchise. HE’S NOT GOING TO LET YOU DOWN.
‘He’s not going to let you down’ …Bay obviously hasn’t seen BATTLE: LOS ANGELES.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
