IN TIME and GATTACA’s Andrew Niccol is currently directing the adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s sci-fi novel THE HOST. The film has THE LOVELY BONES’ Saoirse Ronan as the lead of ‘Melanie Stryder’, who after seeing a parasitic alien race easily inhabit the bodies of humans, becomes unique when she is able to mentally wrestle with the invading presence of her ‘Wanderer’.
As is custom with Meyer’s work, there is a love triangle, but unlike the dreary and uninspiring blandness of her TWILIGHT saga, this one involves the alien soul inside Melanie herself. Here we have the first scanned images (albeit low quality) that come via People Magazine. With the TWILIGHT saga coming to an end later this year, the studio will be hoping THE HOST will go on to become just as successful. THN just hopes this one keeps us awake.
THE HOST is not due in cinemas until 29th March 2013 but we are already expecting a teaser trailer sometime tomorrow. The rest of the cast is also made up of William Hurt, Frances Fisher, Diane Kruger, Max Irons and Jake Abel.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
