Paul Rudd’s apparently not in any hurry to break out of his typecast comedy role, as he’s in talks to star in Paul Weitz’s new film ADMISSION alongside Tina Fey (30 ROCK).
Rudd, whose CV has recently seen the likes of WANDERLUST and DINNER FOR SHMUCKS added to it, will continue his comedy capers with the Karen Croner-penned film, which will see two childhood acquaintances reunite. As it turns out, while she (Fey) never really knew him (Rudd), he’s been harbouring all sorts of secret feelings for her.
Owen Wilson had originally been reported to play the lead male role, but producers are now reaching out to Rudd, who is said to be very interested. While 2011 saw the actor star in just a few shorts, we’ll be seeing a lot more of him on screen this year – WANDERLUST was released this month, and Rudd is also starring in THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER and THIS IS 40, both due in 2012.
Fey, who both writes and stars in hit US comedy 30 ROCK, will play a college admissions councillor in the film, due to start shooting in May. Paul Weitz is best known for his work directing AMERICAN PIE and ABOUT A BOY.

Aah, two great leads!
Don’t underestimate Rudd though, he’s been doing pretty well since Clueless back in ’95!

No denying he’s done well for himself – and I’ll be the first to admit I like pretty much anything I see him in. But it’d be nice to see him in something different for a change. I can’t recall ever seeing him in anything that wasn’t a comedy!
