Yesterday THN brought you news that Jake Gyllenhaal was in talks to take over the role of an ex-military man, framed for a crime in the Albert Hughes-directed MOTOR CITY. Originally intended as a Dominic Cooper vehicle, talks have now broken down over Gyllenhaal’s availability to appear in the revenge-fuelled thriller. The actor asked for shooting dates to be rescheduled in order to avoid conflicts with his other projects, but producers refused and will now seek another lead.
The plot would have seen the DONNIE DARKO star share the screen with Oscar-nominated acting legend, Gary Oldman and DRIVE ANGRY’s Amber Heard. Oldman is still due to play the criminal kingpin and Heard, the love interest. THN will bring you news of any further casting announcements, as soon as they are confirmed.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
