Yesterday we reported that CHRONICLE director Josh Trank was in negotiations to helm a spin-off feature of Spider-Man villain VENOM. Today we hear Max Landis, the screenwriter of Trank’s current $100 million (and rising) hit, has been hired to pen a sequel to the dark superpowered thriller. More than likely a new director will be sought as Trank may be a little busy over the next few years, if a deal is reached on VENOM.
Another ‘found-footage’ film, the Todd Phillips-produced comedy PROJECT X, which sees a band of geeky teenagers’ party get well out-of-hand, also looks set for a follow-up. The film was only released on Friday, but plans are already in motion for writer Michael Bacall to come up with another drink and drug fuelled, consequence-free shindig.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
