Suzanne Collins’ big-screen adaptation of her first in the trilogy of novels, THE HUNGER GAMES, is nearing ever closer. Director Gary Ross, who gave us the brilliantly-clever PLEASANTVILLE, is expected to go darker and a lot more violent to envisage a future dystopian world where teenagers fight to the death live on television. Comparisons between the TWILIGHT franchise have unfairly been thrown at the film and we can promise this does not have shirtless teenagers turning into wolves.
The critically-acclaimed books have gone down a storm with fans, making this feature one of the must-see movies this year. Here we have newly acquired clip of Jennifer Lawrence’s Katniss Everdeen showing off her skills with a bow. Take a look.
THE HUNGER GAMES hits cinemas 23rd March and co-stars Woody Harrelson, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Donald Sutherland, Elizabeth Banks, Wes Bentley and Lenny Kravitz. The sequel, CATCHING FIRE has already been green-lit to begin shooting later this year, which makes the trilogy’s conclusion with MOCKINGJAY, pretty much nailed on.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
