Cast For Hitchcock Biopic The Making Of Psycho Gathering Pace

ALFRED HITCHCOCK AND THE MAKING OF PSYCHO had previously announced Oscar-winning acting legend Anthony Hopkins as the iconic director in the project. The focus of the biopic is pretty obvious from the current title, and a film that documents the struggle to get, arguably his best and most famous work on to the big-screen, should make for compulsive viewing.

We now have confirmation on just who will join Hopkins as the major players in Hitchcock’s masterpiece-making. The stunning Scarlett Johansson is to take the role of Janet Leigh, the legendary female actress who took that infamous shower to the sharp sounds of Bernard Herrmann’s score. Playing the great Anthony Perkins as the damaged Norman Bates (just to confuse you even further) will be British actor James D’Arcy. Helen Mirren will also feature as Hitchcock’s wife Alma.

The film will be an adaptation of Stephen Rebello’s novel of the same name and is expected to be directed by Sacha Gervasi. The studio will be hoping for the same success as the similarly-themed MY WEEK WITH MARILYN that starred an Oscar-nominated Michelle Williams as damaged, sex-symbol actress, Marilyn Monroe.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
