Benedict Cumberbatch Talks The Hobbit

Benedict Cumberbatch is all praise about his up coming film THE HOBBIT. With a new video blog launched yesterday and a red carpet interview from MTV, which you can view below, we have been getting a lot of feedback on the filming process. And all of it seems to be rather good.

“It’s going to be an amazing film; it’s going to be a real treat”, says an excited Cumberbatch in the MTV interview. Providing the voice for The Necromancer and Smaug the Dragon, he says he has being doing a lot of voice recording and movements. “It was sort of freeing; it was fun. It was like playing a game.”

Playing Bilbo in the film will be Cumberbatch’s old friend Martin Freeman from hit series SHERLOCK and he couldn’t be happier sharing the screen with him again, explaining how it was hard to keep a straight face during filming. “For Martin to be sitting there playing Bilbo is amazing. He’s going to be fantastic in this film.”

But his praise for director Peter Jackson is probably most worthy of all. “I was very lucky [to work] with Pete. As far as the experience, what an extraordinary one it was because at the time I was in my work; I was in isolation with him and this incredible tag team. And at the very cool place with that technology doing mocap for two characters, Smaug the Dragon and another character, which will remain nameless, and it was an awful lot of fun.”

Though a little incoherent at the end, we can safely conclude that the TINKER TAILOR SOLDIER SPY actor has put a lot of effort and excitement into THE HOBBIT and we can’t wait to see it on the big screen.
