Emma Watson To Join Sofia Coppola’s The Bling Ring

There is a new film in the pipeline for Sofia Coppola and word of the street is that young actress Emma Watson will be its lead star.

The LOST IN TRANSLATION and THE VIRGIN SUICIDES director has written a script following the true story of the Hollywood Hills Burglar Bunch, a group of teenagers who, back in 2008, burglarized the houses of several Hollywood stars. After finishing up Guillermo del Toro’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Emma is said to play the lead in the entitled THE BLING RING, while the film will be produced by Coppola’s brother and filmmaker Roman Coppola.

“The Bling Ring shows a group of teenagers obsessed with fashion and fame who burglarized the homes of celebrities in Los Angeles. Tracking their targets’ whereabouts online, the teens would break-in and steal designer clothes and possessions.  Reflecting on the naiveté of youth, amplified by today’s culture of celebrity and luxury brand obsession, the members of the Bling Ring introduce us to temptations that nearly any teenager would find hard to resist. What starts out as youthful fun spins out of control and reveals a sobering view of our modern culture.”

With a certain knack for making films simple yet beautiful, we cannot wait to see which spin Coppola will put on the up coming film. One thing is for sure though. After having successfully launched the careers of many young actresses, including Kirsten Dunst and Scarlett Johansson, HARRY POTTER star Emma Watson is a safe bet for this film.
