Michael Bay’s ‘Pain Or Gain’ Gains A Model And A Monk

Michael Bay agreed to directed a fourth TRANSFORMERS film in return for Paramount financing this passion project. PAIN OR GAIN is based on the true story of a group of body-builders, whose attempt to kidnap and extort a huge sum of money from a wealthy Florida businessman eventually ended in murder. Another two actors have joined Dwayne Johnson, Mark Wahlberg, Anthony Mackie, Rob Corddry and Ed Harris in the action-thriller.

Israeli supermodel Bar Paly will portray (the usual Bay eye-candy) an illegal immigrant with dreams of Hollywood who gets caught-up in the plot. Unlike the talking mannequin that was Rosie Huntington-Whitley in the third TRANSFORMERS slog, Paly has acting experience, albeit limited.

MONK star Tony Shalhoub, on the other hand, is to play the criminal’s targeted victim Marc Shiller. Shalhoub is well-known in the US for his role as obsessively-compulsive sleuth Adrian Monk, but he has featured in a number of successful films ranging from MEN IN BLACK I and II, GALAXY QUEST and THIRTEEN GHOSTS.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
