We have all seen each of THE AVENGERS in some form or another in each of their own stand-alone features; all except one. Yes we have seen Eric Bana and Edward Norton’s impressivly CGI’ed mugs tranferred into brute that is The Hulk, but Mark Ruffalo’s re-cast incarnation has only been glimpsed at in dark frames of the films ‘blink-and-miss-him’ trailers and television spots.
Of all the characters in THE AVENGERS, I have always had a soft spot for Bruce Banner’s ‘green mean’. Most probably because of my love for the Saturday morning cartoon I grew up watching as an easily stunned kid. And here he is, in the closest form any of the three actors to portray the Hulk (on the big-screen), has come to looking like the actor playing his human alter-ego.
It appears they have captured Ruffalo to a tee, lets hope the team-up matches the hype and Joss Whedon has created the best superhero flick since SPIDER-MAN 2. THE AVENGERS hits cinemas 27th April. Hands up who’s going?

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

“[C]reated the best superhero flick since SPIDER-MAN 2.”
That comment is laughable. Iron Man, Captain America, X-Men: First Class and The Incredible Hulk are all better than Spider-Man 2, and that’s just Marvel. Looking at DC, it’s even more laughable; did you forget Batman Begins and The Dark Knight? Both are highly superior to Spider-Man 2. It’s not even close.

Apologies Chris, I was only thinking of Marval adaptations when I wrote this piece, but you are right both Nolan’s Batman films are masterpieces. But regarding the others you have mentioned it is all about opinions and I value yours as much as any ones. As much as I enjoyed IRON MAN and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, I have yet to see Raimi’s SPIDER-MAN 2 bettered in the Marvel universe. Thanks for you input
