Paddy Considine is undoubtedly a man of many talents. We knew he could write and act up a storm, but with his feature film directorial debut, TYRANNOSAUR, in the can, and receiving such wonderful plaudits – and a BAFTA – Considine is proving he has the entire creative package. In an interview backstage at the BAFTAS he shed some light on his next project, THE YEARS OF THE LOCUST, which lies at the complete other end of the thematic spectrum.
The film will be an adaptation of the Jon Hotten book about the world of professional bodybuilding, which is set in the deep south of North America, and is based on true events. The story touches on corruption, murder, money and mayhem as it follows a sociopathic salesman turned boxing promoter, Rick ‘Elvis’ Parker, and his faithful and naive fighter, Tim Anderson.
Considine, who first came to filmgoers’ attention with roles in 24 HOUR PARTY PEOPLE, IN AMERICA, and DEAD MAN’S SHOES (a magnificent performance), can be seen in the upcoming NOW IS GOOD, GIRL ON A BICYCLE and HONOUR.

Martin has been a film buff (or geek, if you prefer) for as long as he can remember. However, he lives and longs for storytelling of all kinds, and writes across numerous mediums to feed his insatiable appetite. He lives in north-west London, and his favourite films are, possibly: PAN'S LABYRINTH, THEY LIVE, PSYCHO, HIGH FIDELITY, ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO'S NEST, STAND BY ME, SIDEWAYS and OFFICE SPACE.
