JGL Set To Direct And Star With Johansson

Joseph Gordon-Levitt is set to make his directorial debut, which he will also write and star in alongside Scarlett Johansson, a pairing so hot it may melt the internet. The JGL will be fulfilling a lifelong ambition to get behind the camera.

‘I was a child actor for years and quit at 19, went to school a while, and a big part of why I came back was that I ultimately wanted to make movies,’ said the infuriatingly handsome and talented performer. ‘I spent a year working with Chris Nolan, Rian Johnson, Steven Spielberg, and I did my best to pay attention. I’ve also been making short films for a long time now, I’ve directed a ton of them, and that is a huge part of why I feel comfortable and confident in this.’

Not only that, but the INCEPTION star will be going all Woody Allen on us by writing, as well as starring and directing.

‘This is the first time I finished a feature film I thought was good enough to make into a movie.’ JGL the writer is certainly looking after JGL the actor, by hiring Johansson to co-star and casting himself against type. ‘I wrote myself a Hell of a role, one that people wouldn’t necessarily think of me for. The film is a sexy comedy about a modern-day Don Juan, and his quest to become less of a selfish dick.’

We here at THN are HUGE JGL fans and couldn’t be more excited for the actor/director/writer/musician/pin-up/Batman-cast-member. He’s had tremendous success over the last few years, with hits like 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, INCEPTION and 50/50. And 2012 is shaping up to be another mega year, with sci-fi actioner LOOPER, historical bio-pic LINCOLN, fast paced thriller PREMIUM RUSH and some small, indie art house flick called THE DARK KNIGHT RISES.

He will reunite with the producer of LOOPER and BRICK (2005) Ram Birgman for the as yet untitled comedy, and shooting is due to start on 16th April.

And just because we can, just below is a gratuitous gallery of one Joseph Gordon-Levitt.

He graduated with First Class Honours in Media Arts/Film & TV, a fact he will remain smug about long after everyone has stopped caring.
